What I Know Today

What I Know Today

I’m feeling a little lost this morning. So I’ve decided to center myself by writing and to focus on what I know because right now I feel swamped by all the things I don’t know.

1. One thing I know is that I have lots of help. For example, I am dictating this writing into my computer with the new program I am just learning how to use called MacSpeech Dictate. Since I am legally blind, and I was never very good at typing anyway, in fact,I cheated in my high school typing class, writing these blogs is very difficult for me. I make so many mistakes typing, sometimes three or four errors per sentence, that it takes a lot of my life energy to proofread my writing.

Now I have a program that I can talk into and it magically, MAGICALLY, prints what I say. This program is new to me, so I have much more to discover about how much this program will empower me. But I know this, I will get better and faster at using this program because I will stick with it until I master it.

So one thing I really know is that no matter how lost I am, there is plenty of help all around me all the time.

2. I get to hope and dream. I just got back from a mastermind session with Suzanne Evans, and I am churning. My doubts are up and about and floating in my brain and through my heart and clouding my vision. My big dreams to help the world in the best way I know how are also pulsating through me, almost demanding that I stay tuned and stay committed so that people in the world that I can most serve will be served. Giving up is not an option. Giving up is not an option.

3. What I also know is that I am deeply loved. Not only do I have a fabulous amazing magical husband, but I got an e-mail from someone in Bulgaria this morning, someone who said she loved my book Woman with a Voice: Daring to Live Authentically Ever After. She said a friend of hers loves my books so much, she wants her own copy. How could she get a copy of my book in Bulgaria.

To me this is a miracle. That I have touched someone in Bulgaria, touched someone enough that she seeks me out again three years after she saw me speak in Prague--well, this is reason enough for me to get up every morning and do whatever it is I need to do, so that I can help the people I can help, so that courage and truth and integrity rise in the world.

4. I know that everyone has greatness and genius in them. I know that if we are willing to tell ourselves the truth and not let shame steal our glory and our passion, each one of us has the ability to create miracles all day long. What if every person in the world got up every morning and said to themselves, “I am going to make their day!”

What if every person every day got up and helped every person they met smile, laugh, or just feel a little bit better about being alive? What if we all did this one simple thing? The world would be instantly and completely transformed.

That’s how close it all is. Just this close. Just right now right in front of us in ourselves, in our own hearts in our breath, in our smile and in our intention every day to make our day by making their day.

This is what I know today, even when I’m lost.

Blessings,

Vicki

Free Joy Mini-Makeover

Free Joy Mini-Makeover with Personalized Jingle/Meditation

Do you feel like a tiger is chasing you to some finish line you don’t even know for sure is there but one thing you know is that it used to be fun and now you are crabby and tired and you want to kick innocent animals and scream at that jerk who is driving too slowly, making you late?

If you are needing a Joy Boost, if you have lost touch with the passion and fun you used to have, I would love to play with you. For a limited time, I am offering a free fifteen minute phone call. We will play with what most needs to shift to get you back on your Joy Boat. I will come up with a jingle, meditation, or emotional clearing tapping session.

If you would like to schedule a time for your free call, email me at: vicki@daringtobejoyful.com. You will come away with something concrete that will make you laugh or help you listen to the deepest, truest part of yourself. I’d be happy to send you a sample of a jingle I created to help one of my clients get on his computer and work with a program called Dream Weaver. It’s a bit wicked, but still PG rated.

Finding Space Between the Molecules

Finding Space Between the Molecules

I will not hurry.

Today I will not hurry. Today I will trust the Universe enough to surrender to the natural flow of the day.

I will not push the river for the River loves me and is moving at just the right speed.

Just for today I will find the space between the molecules. There is infinite space between the molecules and I am safe there.

Life is easy between the molecules and I have plenty of time, plenty of time to do all I need to do, all that needs doing.

I am light and I am surrounded in light between the molecules.

My life may look full to the brim, overflowing with urgency, but I know this is an illusion.

The Truth is that everything is energy and that what looks solid is almost all space. There is always room between the molecules, always room for me.

There is always plenty of time for me to rest and reflect between the molecules

My truest, most authentic self is always there waiting for me between the molecules. I am never abandoned, never alone as long as I remember how I can find myself at any moment, in any place.

My deepest wisdom lives between the molecules. It is always there, ready and patiently waiting for me to return.

There is no hurry. I have plenty of time.

Between the Molecules.

Vicki

Peace Between the Molecules

I created a short meditation which could even be used as a ring tone, to help me remember to slow down all day long and find peace in each moment.

This short movie contains the MP3 I created. If you want me to send it to you, just email me at vicki@daringtobejoyful.com.

I'm also going to offer free customized meditations, motivation, and jingles as long as I can do them with joy between the molecules.

Hurry! Hurry! Now! This offer will go away soon! (Just kidding. This or something better will come your way exactly when you need it. I hate and do not trust Urgency.)

Blessings,

Vicki

What if We All had an Angel Committee?

I’ve been talking about Angel committees for years and it’s been a lot of fun. My idea of an Angel committee is that everyone has one and that they conspire to force us to live our lives fully. They will do whatever it takes to get our attention and they howl with delight when they think up a really good scenario to force us to get honest and get brave.

A while ago my friend Francie and I were taking an afternoon walk. She had started a new network marketing business called Life Force, and she was trying to decide whether to go to a Chamber of Commerce meeting later that afternoon to pitch her stuff.

“I don’t think I’ll go,” she told me, with a little depression and desperation in her voice.

Francie had owned a wonderful restaurant in Corvallis several years ago called Café Croissant. It had been my family’s favorite Sunday morning spot. She sold the restaurant and she and her family took a year to sail around the world.

What I’m getting at is that this woman had talent and an adventurous spirit. She did not want to run a restaurant anymore. (Anyone who has run a restaurant might understand how she felt.) She did need to earn some income for her family, but she had never done any network marketing before and it had such a bad reputation, she was worried about it. Plus she felt nervous about having to “push” herself on people.

“Let’s imagine you have an Angel Committee, Francie,” I said. “Let’s say this committee decided to help you find a new career because it knew how much you did not want to own a restaurant anymore, but also knew you wanted to run your own business and work for yourself.

“What if your Angel Committee had a conversation that went something like this:

Hmmm. What career opportunity can we offer Francie that will have something to do with nutrition, but not involve cooking or running a restaurant?’ (Life Force’s main product is Body Balance, which is sea vegetables and aloe and is amazingly good for the body. Francie had lost twenty pounds on it and had some long term skin problems clear up. She was a believer.)

‘Yes,’ her Committee continues, ‘let's also give this company a world-wide network because she loves to travel.’ (Life Force has people selling it all over the world. In fact, she had discovered it through a friend in New Zealand, and then drank it for a month in Ireland before she ever decided to start selling it.)

‘Yeah! And let’s give her a terrific coach who she loves and who loves her and who is full of integrity and encouragement!’ (This would be her friend and sponsor, Manfred from New Zealand.)

‘Oh! Oh! And let's force her to step out of her comfort zone and talk to strangers. She’ll have to do it because she believes in her product so much!’ (The Angel Committee is now slapping themselves on the back and folded over in laughter.)

‘Tee hee! She will have to do things she never thought she could do, she will help people all over the world, and she will earn lots of money to support her family and her desire to travel all over the world! This is perfect!’

‘It will scare her to pieces,’ one Angel comments.

‘Yeah!’ they all scream and fall off their chairs laughing.”

After hearing this story (which I made up on the spot, by the way) Francie decided she must go to the meeting she was dreading. She did go, had a great time, gained confidence, and recruited someone into her business. We laugh about it now, but it was a significant step for her at the time.

My experience with Angel Committees is always like this. Thinking this way is how I coach myself and others: “What if I had an Angel Committee and they had planned for this exact thing to happen to me in order to promote my awakening and my freedom….” This question always leads to great stuff.

Blessings,

Vicki

Staying in Touch with YOU

I used to be worried about people leaving me, abandoning me. Now I know that the only person who can abandon me is ME. If I do not desert myself, I will be fine. If I can hear myself in there, sometimes deep in there among the swirls, I will find my way out. As it turns out, I need to supply my own bread crumbs to get myself through of the forest of Life.

To help myself and others stay in touch with themselves, I developed four questions and a mantra. The following movie explains the process.

I also wrote a book, a journal, to help people practice this daily checking in. The book is called Your Book of You: Four Questions and a Mantra from Your Angel Committee.

Tomorrow I will explain what an Angel Committee is.

Blessings,

Vicki

Starting a Movement, Serving the World

I freely admit I cannot sell my way out of a paper sack with a flashlight. Because I have integrity, because I refuse to manipulate and coerce people, because I am working my own recovery program as an adult child of an alcoholic, I cannot engage in what I have defined as "Marketing."

Then I discovered Suzanne Evans. She advocates stopping marketing and starting a movement. I love her. I am a private client and I feel she gets who I am and is in alignment with my mission.

But if I want to change the world, and I do know how to help people change their lives and their businesses, what good is it if no one knows about me?

Here is the replay of her latest call. No fluff. She gets right to it.

Let me know what you think.

Did You Wake Up With a Joy Hangover Today?

No?

Neither did I.

Several years ago, I committed to overcoming the bad habit of postpoining my joy. It looks like this, "Yeah, yeah...I'll get to that walk, or dancing to Bob Seeger in my underwear, just as soon as I do blah, blah, blah."

My daughter was on her way to her community college bathroom when she collapsed ten years ago. She was in ventricular fibulation and she should have died. 99% of people this happens to die right on the spot.

Her near death reminded me in a visceral way that death is right there waiting for any of us and will not be held back by, "Yeah, yeah. I'll get right to you just as soon as I blah, blah, blah."

When a friend of mine was having trouble finding her joy every morning, I sent her a week of Joy Practice. I have it ready to share with you, if you like.

Postponing joy might kill you, but living joyfully every day will make you glad you are alive.

Wickedly Funny Ringtones....

Suzannah Doyle, a dear friend of mine, is hilariously funny and a brilliant musician to boot. My husband Murray and I play with her often and the result are these slightly naughty ringtones.

Listen at your own risk. Laugh and digest your food better.

Tap Yourself to Sleep

A friend of mine recently had trouble sleeping at night. Her husband was gone and she got so scared she asked for some support. I spent the night with her and did a Tapping session with her which helped her sleep that night.

When I got home, I made her a Tapping audio to music. Here is the link to download it:

Please let me know what you think.

I Don't Trust Urgency

When I was in my thirties and suffering from a low grade anxiety disorder, I let the feeling of urgency steal my life. Because I was always anxious, I did not know what it felt like NOT to be anxious. I thought how I felt was normal, even though I also felt enormous shame for being so afraid all the time.

One day I just got sick of being afraid. I decided I would practice being a little braver every day and I would never trust urgency again.

This day my life changed forever.

I am legally blind. Some people with vision just like mine do not leave their homes to get the mail. I get that. When we practice being afraid, we become good at it and our world literally shrinks around us. We are either getting braver or more cowardly. There is no neutral.

Now I travel all of the world by myself most the time. I even traveled in India on a train by myself. Well, certainly not by myself. Unaccompanied I should say. For twenty four hours I was in a compartment with three men. I was wearing a dress and I had the top bunk. No one spoke English. The toilets were, well I couldn't even see what they were but the smell scared me.

I turned this experience into a verse in a song I sing now to introduce myself. Yahoo!

Anti-Urgency Tip

Never trust the feeling of urgency. Real emergency situations call for clear thinking and level-headed action. The push of urgency, “Now! Now! Or something terrible will happen!” is addictive and it is a Lie. Never, never trust it.

When I feel urgent, I stop what I am doing. I do not make the urgency choice. I do something else.

I urge you to go cold turkey and never trust urgency again. It does not like you! It hates you and it wants to steal your joy, creativity, and the essence of your life.

May the Joy Be With You,

Vicki

I Hate Urgency

What happens when you let fifty gurus into your home via the internet?

They are all brilliant, they all have something to offer, and suddenly I am spinning and crazed. I'm not having fun anymore and my goal is to have fun every day, since every day just might be my last.

Yuck.

How do we build a business, run a home, succeed in our career and stay centered and happy? I am committed to finding out.

Tip One: Unsubscribe.

Cut two or three newsletters you are getting. Even if you aren't opening them, they are taking up space in your Inbox and in your psyche. Even if they are fabulous, (I just cut Jack Canfield!). Too much is too much. Cut back and breathe deep! Get your life and your sanity back!

It's easy to say no to stuff that doesn't serve us. It is much harder to say no to the good stuff, the great stuff, especially when all these great people seem to be hollering that you need what they have right now. RIGHT NOW!

I'm susceptible to urgency, because I am a recovering urgency addict. I have learned I cannot trust urgency. That sense of "Now! Now! Must do it now!" does not serve me.

Even though I believe I have a message that can be of great service to perhaps millions of people, I must keep my sanity and joy along the way or I am nothing and my message is meaningless.

So I am going to start a movement, a Joy Revolution, and I will get my message out with integrity and without urgency. I want to become the Queen of Anti-Urgency.

If you want some help getting joy in your life now, click here: http://www.daringtobejoyful.com/freeweekofjoy/. Don't sign up unless you hear something inside you that says, "Ah! I'm parched and this feels like fresh spring water."

There is no rush. There is no rush.

Blessings and May the Joy Be With You,

Vicki
